Book reviews: A Murderous Yarn, by Monica Ferris

In Brief:

Ferris' chosen protagonist is Betsy Devonshire, the owner of a needlecraft shop called "Crewel World. Devonshire's good friend, Deputy Jill Cross, has just informed Devonshire that her boyfriend, another local deputy named Lars, needs a sponsor for the restoration of an antique car. Finding herself drawn to the antique cars she sees at a local antique car show, Devonshire volunteers to check in the drivers. Charlotte and Devonshire become fast friends, but things go terribly wrong when Devonshire and Charlotte go for a ride and return to find that Bill Birmingham is dead. Perhaps the only redeeming quality of "A Murderous Yarn" is Ferris's good, but arbitrary, descriptions of the antique cars in the show.
